Founder of ScentWise · builds the site, maintains the database, writes the guides

I started ScentWise in 2025 because I love perfume and wanted a better way to help people find a scent they will actually wear, rather than one they were talked into.

About me

I am the one person behind ScentWise. I wrote the code, assembled and cleaned the 65,000-fragrance database the recommendations draw on, and I write and update every guide on the blog. When something on the site is wrong, it is my mistake, and I would like to hear about it.

Fragrance started as a hobby for me and turned into a habit: reading note pyramids, comparing versions and concentrations of the same scent, and paying attention to how a bottle behaves over a day rather than in the first ten minutes. ScentWise is what happened when that habit met the fact that I can build software. I started it in 2025 and have run it alone since.

The guides are being rebuilt around that habit. Rather than more lists, the aim is fewer pages with clearer labels: which comparisons are note-based, which claims are community-reported, and which are first-hand. When a guide says something is a shortlist rather than a wear test, that is a deliberate choice, and it will change as I get through the bottles.
